Vassie Lee Newton, 87, of Five Points, TN, passed away Monday, July 5, 2010 at NHC Scott Health Care in Lawrenceburg, TN. Mrs. Newton was born in Lauderdale County, AL. She was a member of Bonnertown Baptist Church and was a housewife. She is survived by: Husband: James Willard Newton, Five Points, TN Daughters: Glenda Faye Dewberry, Five Points, TN Fredia Gail Day & husband Glenn, Madison, AL Grandchildren: Tim Dewberry & Tammy Marty Dewberry & Amy Teresa Vaughn & David Tony Walker & Jaime Great Grandchildren: Todd Dewberry, Ethan Vaughn, Colton Vaughn, Meagan Walker, Braden Walker, & MyKayla Walker. Mrs. Newton was preceded in death by: Parents: William Jesse Shelton & Ider Alice Newton Shelton Brothers: Rufus Shelton, Ed Shelton, and Eckerd Shelton Sisters: Madgie Ferrell, Lily Bell Wilson, Bertha Mosley, Eva Dreggors, Gertrude Moses, Mrytle McCain, Lizzie Shelton, and Leta Mae Barnett Son-in-law: Stanley Dewberry Funeral Service will be Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Greenhill Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. W.O. McCain & Bro. Carlos Casteel officiating. Burial will follow at Bonnertown Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 8, 2010, from 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. at Greenhill Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Greenhill Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
