Obituary of Bennie Clemons

Bennie Dee Clemons, Age 88, of Greenhill, AL, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, at Floyd E. "Tut" Fan Veterans Home in Huntsville, AL after an extended illness. Mr. Clemons was a native of Lauderdale County, AL. He was a retired carpenter with TVA. He was a World War II Army Veteran and was a member of the Stutts Road Church of Christ. He served in World War II under General Patton in the European Theater. He was assigned to the 455th Antiaircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion. He landed at Normandy on D Day and fought in Rhineland and Northern France, Central Europe, earing him a European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars. He was honorable discharged on October 22, 1945 and returned home. He worked as a carpenter until retirement in 1984. He was preceded in death by: Wife: Dorothy Marie Kennedy Clemons Daughter: Bennie Sue Clemons Brothers: Charlie Clemons, Tony Clemons and Johnnie Clemons Sister: Mamie LeMay Grandchild: Jacob Allen Clemons Survivors are: Sons: Kenneth Clemons and wife Barbara of Florence, AL; Eddie Clemons of Florence; and Harold Clemons of Anderson, AL Daughter: Janice McLaughlin and husband Dale of Florence Brothers: Paul Brown Clemons of Florence and Joe Clemons of Flintville, TN (5) Grandchildren and (6) Great Grandchildren Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010 from 11 AM to 1 PM at Greenhill Funeral Home. Funeral will be at 1 PM Thursday at Greenhill Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Bro. Tim Grigsby. Burial will follow in Emmalina Stutts Cemetery with full Military Honors. Pallbearers are: Leon Kennedy, Bennie Gayle Clemons, Ronnie Clemons, Joe Harris, Mark Wiley, & Gerald Wiley. Greenhill Funeral Home is directing.
