Obituary of William O'Neal Killen

William O'Neal Killen, Age 72, of Lexington, AL passed away Tuesday November 17, 2009 at his residence of an extended illness. Mr. Killen was a native of Lauderdale County, Alabama. He was a member of Mary's Chapel Church of the Nazarene. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, a crane operator by trade and owner of Vally Crane Service, Inc. which he owned and operated for 40 years. He served as Mayor of the Town of Lexington, Alabama for 12 years from 1984-1996. He also served on the Richardson Chapel Cemetery Board for more than 40 years and served with the Fire Department and Rescue Squad in Lexington. He also was Treasurer of the North Alabama Mayors Association. Survivors are his wife of 51 years, Mary Alice Wilson Killen of Lexington, AL; Daughters: Cindy Annette Killen of Birmingham, AL and Sandra Killen Burroughs and husband Barry Burroughs of Lexington, AL; Grandson: Hunter Jake Killen of Lexington, AL; Step- Grandchildren: Brittney Burroughs and Brandon Burroughs of Lexington, AL; Sisters: Ruth Pettus of Lexington, AL and Maudean Tomaszewski and husband Raymond of Tuscumbia, AL; and also a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and a great number of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Albert V. (Sid) & Sallie Killen; His Brothers: Robert Clinton Killen and Infant Twin Brother; and His sister Evelyn Craig. Funeral Service will be Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 11 AM at Greenhill Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Randy French and Bro. James Albert Smith officiating. Burial follow in Richardson Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 18, 2009 from 4 to 8 PM at Greenhill Funeral Home. Pallbearers are: Mark Pettus, Tim Tomas, Gary Tomaszewski, Mike Cates, Wade Smith, Keith Balch, Dennis Holden & Robbie Gray. Honorary Pallbearers are: Hunter Killen, Randy Bates, Terry Thompson, Marcus Wilson, and Wilton Mark Pettus. Greenhill Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
