Obituary of Elna Shaw Mitchell

Elna Shaw Mitchell, 82, of South Bend, IN, passed away November 1, 2009 at Sunset House, South Bend. She retired in 1988 from Uniroyal Corporation after 30 years of service. She was born on October 19, 1927 in Florence, AL to Carl and Susie Belle (Killen) Shaw. On December 16 1950 in Florence, AL, she married Walter Allen Mitchell, who preceded her in death on January 16, 1978.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her two daughters, Debbie (Donnie) Karczewski of South Bend and Judy (Jack) Holderman of Sun Prairie, WI; three grandchildren, Amy Ciula, Laurie (Mike) Kindley, and Melissa (Alex) VanFleet; and three great grandchildren, Samantha Ciula, Cody Anderson, and Kimberly Kindley. Also surviving are two sisters, Patsy Lindsey of Tuscumbia, AL and Kathy Moody of Sheffield, AL; and two brothers, Jim Shaw of Little Rock, Arkansas and Johnny Shaw of Greenhill, AL. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Price in 2004 and Betty Jane Shaw in 1969, and five brothers, Bobby Shaw in 1992, Ed Shaw in 2008, Wayne Shaw in 2001, Paul Shaw in 1979 and an infant brother in 1926.
Visitation will be Wednesday November 4, 2009, from 6:00-8:00pm at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday, November 5, at 11:00am at the funeral home with Bro. Charles Kretzer officiating. Burial will be in Richardson Chapel Cemetery.
