Thomas A. "Sonny" Adams Jr., age 72, of Erie, Michigan, passed away on August 5, 2009 in Daytona Beach, Florida. Sonny was born on September 1, 1936 in Florence, AL to Thomas and Julia(Killen-Crowder) Adams Sr. Sonny was a veteran of the US Air Force. He spent his adult years in the Detroit area owning many businesses before moving to the Toledo area after purchasing the Toledo Speedway. He owned and operated the speedway for 20 years and retired in 1999. He spent the last 10 years in Florida.
He is survived by 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 sisiters and 3 brothers. His parents and stepfather Robert Crowder preceded him in death.
His funeral was held on August 12, 2009 in Toledo, Ohio and his final resting place will be in Richardson Chapel Cemetery. Graveside services will be held at the cemetery at 11 AM on Friday, August 14, 2009.
