Obituary of James Clanton

James Calvin Clanton, 92, of Florence, AL, passed away July 28, 2016, at his home with his loving family. Daddy was a faithful man of God, who worshipped and attended Cloverdale First Baptist Church, and was one of the last pioneers of the church which he loved so dearly. He was a Carpenter, Farmer and in the Auto Salvage business, and a member of the Florence Wagon Club. Survivors include: Wife: Birdie Hill Clanton Sons: Charles (Nancy) Clanton Jimmy Clanton Daughters: Dorothy (Jerry) Hayes Frances Bates Judy Cox Linda (Don) Greene Melissa Clanton Brother: Elzo Clanton Step-daughters: Pat (Bryant) Hester & June (John) Clark 13 Grandchildren & 15 Great Grandchildren & several nieces & nephews Preceded in death by: Parents: Johnnie & Ironia Clanton First wife & mother of his children: Mary Chowning Clanton Son: David Michael Clanton Brothers: Willie, Thomas & Andrew Clanton Sisters: Mae, Ruth, Inez & Olivet Son-in-law: Bobby Cox Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00pm on Saturday, July 30, at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Sunday, July 31, at 2:00pm in the chapel with Jay Clanton & William Brewer officiating. Burial will be in Emmaline Stutts Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Chris Clanton, David Greene, Keith Barnes, David McFall, David Gray & Joshua Givens. Greenhill Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
