Obituary of Donald Glover

Donald Dean Glover, 83, of Florence, passed away July 12, 2016 at El Reposo Nursing Facility. He was born on Dec. 3, 1932 in Crescent, Oklahoma, the fifth of six children born to Vinnie George and Edith Dodson Glover. At 20, he met and married the love of his life, Mary Ann Elizabeth Huff. They were married for 63 years.
After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, he went to work with Ford Motor Co. in Sheffield for 25 years, and for Chrysler in Huntsville for 10 years. He loved to tinker in his workshop and was known for his woodcarving. He was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Greenhill Lodge and served for 55 years. He was an ordained Baptist Deacon and was secure in his faith.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Glover, daughter Beverly Mangum (Pete), of Florence, son Joel Glover (Melanie) of Rockford, AL and three grandchildren Erin ("Squirt" as Papa called her) Mangum of Florence, Justin Glover of Brooklyn, NY, and Caleb Glover of Starkville, MS. He is also survived by brother Jack Glover of Arkansas, and sister Mary Ann Kagabein of Arkansas.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 14, from 12:00-1:00pm at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00pm with Dr. Jeff Fuller officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery with Military Honors and Masonic Rites. Pallbearers will be Justin Glover, Caleb Glover, Jason Butler, and Everett Chandler.
