Obituary of Christine Reed

Christine Marie Reed, 56, died on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, in Florence, Alabama, after a brief illness. Christine was born on November 28, 1959, to Frank and Vernie Messer in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up in Chicago before moving to Lexington, Alabama, where she married and raised both of her children. Christine enjoyed collecting recipes, watching cooking shows, and spending time with her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Helen Hambright, Thelma Painter, Darrell Messer, Gentry Messer, and Harvey Messer; and her grandson, Tylor Dillon. She is survived by her husband, Michael Thomas; her son, Michael Jason; her daughter Kelly Dillon; her granddaughter Kelsey Dillon; her grandson Aydyn Balentine; her siblings, Louie Messer, Dale Messer, and Fran Messer; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dog, Copper. Christine was known for her feistiness and her big, open heart. She dearly loved God and her family. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016, at Greenhill Funeral Home in Greenhill, Alabama. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Greenhill Funeral Home, after which Christine will be laid to rest in Bonnertown Cemetery in Five Points, Tennessee. Pallbearers will include nephews and close family friends. Christine will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Greenhill Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
