Mr. Allen Wilbern Cox, 89, of Killen, AL, passed away May 7, 2009, at his residence after an extended illness. He was a member of Lone Cedar Church of Christ, a retired carpenter/machinist for Ford Motor Co., and a Veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Coast Guard.
Survivors include: Son: Steve Cox and wife Joan of Killen Daughter: Kathy Cox Glover and husband Charles of Killen Grandchildren: Corey Glover and wife Stacey of Athens Clay Glover and wife Tara of Florence Nicole Coker and husband Matt of Rogersville Jared Cox of Killen (5) Great Grandchildren Several Nieces and Nephews
Preceded in death by: Wife: Juanita Clemmons Cox Parents: Virgil Wiley and Birdie Esther Cox Brother: James H. Cox
The funeral service will be Sunday, May l0, 2009 at 3:00pm at Greenhill Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Grigsby officiating. Burial will be in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from l:00-3:00pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers: Jeff Grigsby, Kevin Grigsby, Mark Collins, Bill Batson, Will Batson, and John Batson.
Honorary Pallbearers: James Pounders, Jim Grigsby, Edward Grigsby, Ford Peden, Orville Nash and Charles Gibbs.
He will always be remembered for his love of gardening and his special talent for woodworking, both of which he loved to share with others.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Anthony Kalliath and his staff, Hospice of the Shoals, and his caretakers, MaryAnn and Donya Melson.
