Obituary of James "Ollie" McGee

James "Ollie" Oliver McGee passed away on February 17, 2016 at Hellen Keller Hospital. He was 87 years, 10 months, and 13 days old. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie L. McGee. Sunday, February 21st, would have been their 66th wedding anniversary. He passed away peacefully in Bobbie's arms, which was his last wish. He is also survived by Wade and Faye McGee, Vickie and Ronnie Brake, Alice and Randy Brake, Joey and Editha McGee, and John and Lori McGee. He was preceded in death by Trent Conner McGee, his grandson, and Gracie Trinity McGee, his great-granddaughter. James was also preceded by his father, Ben McGee, and his mother, Hattie McGee, his sister Claira McMurtry and his brothers Farris McGee, Dennis McGee, and Fletcher McGee. He is survived by 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. James joined the Merchant Marines at 15 years old. Later, he joined the Navy. He was a barber in the Navy and served in the Korean War and World War II. He worked for 30 years and 10 days for Chrysler Corporation. He and Bobbie were retired for 32 years. They raised goats, dogs, and "cane"! They grew gardens, flowers, built sheds, barns, and fences. They loved each other deeply and enjoyed life together. They have been a beautiful example of hard work and perseverance! Visitation will be Friday, February 19, 2016 from 11 AM-1PM at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 1 PM with Bro. Tim Grigsby and Bro. Charles Kretzer officiating. Burial will be in McGee Cemetery with full military honors. Greenhill Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
