Obituary of James Horace Stutts

James Horace Stutts was born on March 30, 1925 and passed from this world to eternity on January 19, 2016. He is survived by his son Miles Stutts (Carla) and his daughter Penny Morgan (Jeff). Five grandchildren Drew Stutts (Amanda), Ella Stutts Thomas (Cody) and Abby Stutts, Logan Herston and Robin Herston. Five great grandchildren Roman and Deacon Stutts, Bentley and Callie Herston, and Lucy Herston. Sisters-in-law, Myra Stutts, Ruby Hamner (Troy) and Alma Butler. Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Louise, parents Jimmy and Lucy Stutts, and siblings Evelyn Pitts, Esther Richardson, Helen Couch and Louie Stutts. Horace worked for 43 years at Reynolds Metals Company and also preached for 50 years for the Church of Christ. Congregations he served were Atlas, Appleton, Five Points, Antioch, Salem, Shiloh, Center Hill, Pleasant Valley and North Carolina. The family will receive friends today, January 22 beginning at 4 pm at Atlas Church of Christ, 3461 County Road 73, Killen, Alabama. The body will lie-in-state at the church from 12 pm to 1 pm on Saturday, January 23 with the funeral following at 1 pm conducted by his son Miles. Special thanks to Dr. Felix Morris and Dr. Tim Ashley, Gentiva Home Health, Alacare Hospice and Greenhill Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Atlas Church Building Fund, Mars Hill Bible School or Shiloh Church Cemetery Fund. Greenhill Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
