Obituary of Mattie Bates

Mattie Estelle Bates, 62, of Killen, AL, passed away January 31, 2015 after a brief illness. Mrs. Bates was retired from Foodland and was a member of the North Carolina Church of Christ.
Mrs. Bates is survived by her husband Clifton Bates; sons Chris Studstill, Ciff Bates, Jr., and John Bates; daughter LeAnn Stockdall; brother Phillip McMurtrey; sister Betty Danley; mother-in-law Ruby Sullivan; and (6) grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents Arthur and Nadine Harris McMurtrey; daughters Lisa Denise Studstill and Amanda Joy Studstill; brother Ralph McMurtrey; and sister Judy McMurtrey.
Visitation will be Monday, February 2, 2015 from 5-8:00 P.M. at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home chapel with Leon Cole officiating. Burial will be in Atlas Cemetery.
