Obituary of Ruth Gordon Smith

Eleanor Ruth Gordon Smith, 78, of Lexington, AL, passed away December 17, 2014, at her home after an extended illness. Mrs. Smith was a retired seamstress and a member of Green's Chapel Methodist Church. Mrs. Smith is survived by son Jeff Gordon; daughter Maureen Jones (Keith); brother Alvin Turpen (Kathy); step-sons Wade, Brent, and Steve Smith; step-daughter Belinda Bailey; (6) grandchildren; (3) great-grandchildren; (8) step-grandchildren; and (6) step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands Charles L. Gordon and William Smith; son Ricky Gordon; and parents Ledon and Louise Turpen. Visitation for Mrs. Smith will be Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 4-7:00 P.M. at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Friday at 11:00 A.M. with Tyler Gordon and Randy Burbank officiating. Burial will be in Pettus Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brent Turpen, Greg Turpen, Keith Hunt, Keith Kelley, Ed Gordon, and Wayne Urban. Honorary pallbearers will be James Wilbourn and Milton Newton. The family would like send special thanks to Dr. Barry Lumpkins, Stacey Wooten, and Courtney and Lee at Amedysis Hospice Care for their care during this difficult time. Greenhill Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
