Obituary of Betty P. Canerday

Betty Pettigrew Canerday, of Florence, AL, passed away October 20, 2014 after an extended illness. Mrs. Canerday was retired after 38 years of teaching in the Lauderdale School System. She was a member of AEA/NEA and a graduate of David Lipscomb University and Mars Hill Bible School. Mrs. Canerday was a member of Jackson Heights Church of Christ. Mrs. Canerday is survived by in-laws Joe Frank and Jackie Fowler and Bill and Joan Canerday; cousins Ken and Gloria Tate; and special friend Wanda Putman. She was preceded in death by her parents Guy and Opal Tate Pettigrew and her husband James E. Canerday. Visitation will be Thursday, October 23, 2014 from 11-1:00 P.M. at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel with longtime friend Brian Smith officiating. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be friends and family. The family would like to especially thank Tim Ray and the staff at Brentwood Assisted Living for their care of Betty. They would also like to thank Dr. Lyman Mitchell for the many years of care and love for Betty. Greenhill Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
