Obituary of Virginia Bass

Mary Virginia Robertson Marlin Martin Bass, 84, a resident of Athens and Florence, AL and a former resident of Pass Christian, MS, was welcomed home by her Heavenly Father on December 15, 2013. Mrs. Bass attended First Baptist Center Star Church and was retired from General Motors. She was preceded in death by her husband Hiram Bass of Owens Crossroads, AL and former husbands J.B. Marlin of Florence, AL and L.J. Martin of Pass Christian, MS; parents Edwin and Velma Robertson; brothers Loyd , Tommy, and Jessie (Jennie) Robertson- all of Florence, AL; grandson Jonathan Fobar of River Rouge, MI; and 3 nephews. She is survived by daughters Shelby Marlin (Fred) Holcomb of Ocean Springs, MS, Debbie Martin, of Killen, AL, Tracey Martin of Athens,AL and Misti Borders of Killen, AL; sisters Martha (Gerald) McLemore, Elkhart, IN, Ruth Haynes, Florence, AL; sister-in-law Katherine Robertson; brothers Kenneth Robertson and Bobby (Rose) Robertson of Florence, AL; grandchildren Kimberly Bevier, Vancleave, MS, Heather (Todd) Knowles, Montgomery, AL, Stephanie Lee, Woolmarket, MS, Matt (Allison) Martin, Greenhill, AL, Caleb Deason, Bobby Evans and Christina Carroll. great grandchildren Tiffanie Jones, Andrew (Kristin) Barnes, Matthew, Nicholas, Timothy and Cali Fobar, Ryan Lee, Matlyne and Alexis Martin; great great grandchildren Brewer Jones, Jonathan and Robert Fobar; and many nephews and nieces. Visitation will be Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 1-2:00 P.M. at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Ronnie Jones officiating. Pallbearers will be Matt Martin, Fred Holcomb, Todd Knowles, David Baroni, David Desporte, and Jim Haynes. The family requests that donations in Virginia's memory be made to the American Stroke Association or American Heart Association. Greenhill Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
