Obituary of William "Bill" Mahers

William "Bill" Mahers, 66, of Greenhill, AL, passed from this life on Thursday, October 31, 2013 after an extended illness. He leaves behind his wife Amy; his three sons Trey (Kerri), Joshua (Jennifer), and Christian (Brooke); his eight grandchildren Kim, Hope, Emma, Ethan, Rylee Anne, Asher, Milli, and Keller Mahers; and his aunt Florence Scheibe of Pennsylvania. Bill was a butcher at Big Star in Killen for 11 years and preached the gospel at the Kilburn Church of Christ where he worked tirelessly to spread the gospel of Christ. He loved his church family at North Carolina Church of Christ where he served as an elder for 3 years. The family would like to thank Dr. Steve Wampler, Dr. John Clark, and the Gentiva Hospice Staff, especially Jeff Hornbuckle and Rosa Darby for their wonderful care. Visitation will be Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 12-2:00 P.M. at North Carolina Church of Christ with the funeral service following at 2:00 P.M. with J.R. Clemmons, Tom McCafferty, and Ike Clemmons officiating. Pallbearers will be his church family. Burial will be at North Carolina Cemetery. Greenhill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
