Obituary of Millie Jo Monceret
Please share a memory of Millie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Many people say there is nothing like a mother's love, and they are right. Our mother was a wonderful Christian person who showed love to everyone she came in contact with. Her favorites were the underprivileged and students eager to learn. She was a very hard worker, yet she took time for her family to insure that we were all strong and independent, just as she was.
Our Mom, Millie Jo Monceret died August 16, 2013. It was a sad day. She was privileged to be a member of the Green Hill United Methodist Church, where she was famous for her wonderful coconut cakes and leading adult Sunday School. Millie was a Life-time member of the Eastern Star. In 1965, she attended Florence State College and gained a bachelor degree in Elementary Education and went on to teach at Rogers School for 22 years before retiring. Oh how she loved teaching her students. During her teaching years, she added a master's degree and an EDS from UNA.
Mrs. Monceret was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, her parents Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Liles, Tom Monceret, Shanna Black, and Tyler Koonce. She is survived by her son, Tim Monceret; daughters: Pat Albright (Ron), Kathy Koonce (Doug), an almost sister Marjorie Monceret Crosswhite, 7 Grandchildren: Shane Albright, Felicia Andes, Tres Monceret, Cass Koonce, Austin Monceret, Chelsey Jones, and Gatlin Hill; 6 great grandchildren: Haley Albright, Haven Albright, Ethan, Grace and Hannah Andes and Madaline Monceret, 2 great great grandchildren: Jason and Cooper Jones.
Visitation will be at 12:00 noon on Sunday with the funeral at 1:00 P.M. at the Green Hill Funeral Home. Officiates with be Rev. Bill Smith, a long time family friend and Rev. Mark Woodruff. Pallbearers will be Shane Albright, Tres Monceret, Austin Monceret, Nick Jones, Cassidy Koonce, and Gatlin Hill.
The family extend their utmost appreciation to everyone at El Reposo Nursing Facility for constant care and love of our mother.
In lieu of flowers, Millie's request was for donations to be made to The Green Hill United Methodist Church Building Fund- 15050 Co Rd 47 Killen, AL 35645.
