Obituary of Cleva Carl

Cleva Black Carl was born February 23, 1919, and died July 2, 2013. She was 94. Her funeral was held on July 6, 2013, at Greenhill Funeral Home, with burial at North Carolina Cemetery. She was a native of Alabama, having resided for many years in Noblesville, Indiana. She and her late husband returned to Alabama in 1982 to retire in the Greenhill area. Survivors include her sons, Jerry Don Carl (Linda) Orland Hills, IL, and Larry G. Carl (Lisa) Fort Wayne, IN; daughter, Lavondia Carl, Killen, AL; grandchildren, Lavondia Canerday (Barry), Greenhill, AL, Lonnie Carl, Gaston, IN, Jimmie Carl (Alan) Dothan, AL, Amy Hand (Chad) Headland, AL,Kecia Dailey (Nicholas), Findlay, OH,and Christi Carl; great-grandchildren, Justin Canerday (Hailey), Jessica Canerday, Alyssa Carl, Blake Carl, Paige Hand, and Emmett Hand. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Allen Carl in 1996; parents, Dock and Mattie Black, of Lauderdale, County; son, Jim Allen Carl (Cheryl), Gaston, IN; sisters, Vesta Burbank , Lexington, AL, Eula Killen, St. Joseph, TN, Eva Killen, Tessie Simmons, Flora Dyer, and twin sister, Leva Hollis Walker, all of Florence, AL; brothers, Henry Black, St. Joseph, TN, Stanley Back, Gallatin, TN, and Grady Black, Noblesville, IN. She and her husband upon leaving the Florence area lived in many places including St. Petersburg, Fla., Chattanooga, Tenn. and eventually Noblesville, Ind. where they raised their four children. She was a stay at home mom who placed her family first and helped her husband eventually with his business, Organic Products Company, Inc. A special thanks to the staff at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home for all the kindness shown during her residence. And, a very special thank you to Rev. Mike Crews for officiating at the funeral with the beautifully rendered Lord's Prayer eulogy, and his "Amazing Grace". Greenhill Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
