Obituary of Ernestdean "Deanie" Green

Deanie Clemmons Green went peaceably into Heaven on June 3, 2013 following an extended illness at home. She was born in Greenhill, Ala., on July 14, 1933. She was a resident of Greenhill for the majority of her life and a 1951 graduate of Rogers High School. She has been married for 60 years to her high school sweetheart, John T. (J.T.) Green, Jr. Mrs. Green was a member of First Baptist Church, Greenhill where she served as the church organist. Her professional career included working at several banks, G.F. Wilson and Southland Merchandise from which she retired in 1988. She was a loving and faithful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Her children are Sheila (David) Quillen of Greenhill, Tommy (Karen) Green of Brandon, Fla., and Don (Heather) Green of Greenhill; her grandchildren are Suzanne (Clint) Blakenship, Allison (Jared) Hines, John (Katherine) Green, Philip and Matthew Green, Drew, Justin, Abbie and Jackson Green; step-grandchildren, Scott and Carly Jones and Caroline Weatherford; great-grandchildren are Ansley and Keeton Hines, Sawyer and Zander Blankenship, Lyla, Fisher and Ransom Green, and Wesley Green.
Mrs. Green is predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Susie Clemmons; brothers, Walter and Maurice Clemmons; and sister, Lucille Davis.
She is survived by sisters, Pauline Koonce, Flora Parker, Verdia Mae Kennedy and Christine (E.L.) Riley.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 4 from 6-9 p.m. at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. at Greenhill Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 5. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Interment will follow at the Greenhill Cemetery.
The family expresses their appreciation to Home Instead and Gentiva Hospice for their care and compassion during this time of illness. A special thanks to our church family and community for your love and support during these difficult days.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made in memory of Deanie Green to the First Baptist Church of Greenhill, Ala., Building Fund at 15351 County Road 47, Greenhill, Ala. 35645.
