Doris Louise McMurtrey, 79, of Greenhill AL, passed away May 7, 2013, at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home. She was a Nursing Assistant, and a member of the Church of Christ. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a friend to all she met. She had the nicknames of Weezie & Mama Louise. She was famous for her fried apple pies and her biscuits. She was a person who cared for others first and herself last. Survivors include: Husband of 63 years: Miley McMurtrey Son: Randy McMurtrey, & wife Barbara, Florence, AL Daughter: Gail McMurtrey Weaver, Florence, AL Grandchildren: Eric Miles & children: Elizabeth & Andrew Miles, Jaeger Miles McDonald Special Granddaughter-In-Law: Nina Miles Dan & Millie Miles & children: Ana & Rainer Miles Miranda McMurtrey Haddock & Anthony & children: Sullivan & Lincoln Haddock Preceded in Death by: Parents: James Luther & Bertha Robertson Sister: Dorothy Robertson Pettus Visitation will be Wednesday, May 08, 2013, from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Greenhill Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Stutts Road Church of Christ, at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Charles Kretzer officiating. She will lie in state at the church from 1:00-2:00. Pall bearers will be: Eric Miles, Dan Miles, Anthony Haddock, Mike Herston, Tim Clanton & Jackie Canerday. The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation to all the wonderful staff of Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home & Gentivia Hospice for all the love, care and friendship for our wife and mother.
