Obituary of Julia Ann Jenkins

Julia Ann Jenkins, 72, of Chattanooga, TN, died Monday, February 14, 2011 at ECM in Florence due to an extended illness.
Visitation will be noon-1:30 Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Greenhill Funeral Home. The service will follow in the chapel. Burial will follow at Emmaline Stutts Cemetery at Milners Chapel. Cory Collins will officiate. Pallbearer will be nephews: Bobby Jenkins, Robert Jenkins, Dennis Jenkins, Doyle Jenkins, Edward Clarence Jenkins, and Edward Louis Jenkins.
Born November 23, 1938 in Lauderdale County, she is survivied by 1 brother: Glen Jenkins, Florence.
Preceded in death by parents Ed Jenkins and Tamsy Hines Jenkins; One sister, Okalene Nunn; and brothers: Quinton Jenkins, O.B. Jenkins, and William Jenkins.
She graduated in 1957 from Rogers High School and attended Florence State College on an Academic Scholarship. She received her B.S. Degree in Florence and then graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medical Technology in Birmingham in 1961.
She worked at Huntsville Hospital for about 10 years and later at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga until her retirement.
Called "Judy" by her family, she was an extremely petite woman surrounded by tall brothers, a tall sister, tall nephews and nieces. Her high school annual used the quote, "The most valuable gifts often come in small packages."
Judy contracted polio when she was 7 years old. Polio limited her physical abilities but never her mental abilities or her independent spirit. She lived independently until the last week of her life when she moved back to be near her family.
