Obituary of Roy Howard Smith

Roy Howard Smith 75, of Killen Al. died Jan 1, 2013 at ECM Hospital. He was a member of Antioch Church of Christ and a member of the Carpenters Local 1209. Mr. Smith was employed at Cates & Puckett for 18 years and spent many days performing carpentry work at Reynolds and Wise Alloys Survivors include: Wife: Peggy Jones Smith Sons: Ronnie Smith and wife Lisa and Gary Smith and wife Kim Brothers: Billy and Junior Smith Sister: Mary Lynn Smith Grandchildren: Marcus, Miles and Shelby Smith, Caitlin Holliday. Great grand Children: Dakota Smith and John Holliday. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lady Ruth Smith. Visitation will be Saturday 5-8p.m. at Greenhill Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Sunday 1:30 p.m. at Antioch Church of Christ. The body will lie in state from 12:30-1:30.Officiating the service will be Bro. Bill Brazer and Tim McCafferty. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Marcus Smith, Miles Smith, Doyle Jones, Wayne Jones, Doug Jones and Steve Peck. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Cates, Eckard Walker, and Larry Murphy. Thanks to nurses / staff on the 5th floor at ECM, and a special thanks to Dr. Ashley and Dr. Felix Morris and our many friends for their prayers and support. He enjoyed going to the sale barn and flea market with his buddies. He took pride in his yard and enjoyed outdoors, fishing, and gardening and looking after his cattle and geese. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his honor to Antioch Church of Christ or the Cancer Society. Greenhill Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
