VELMA L. HUGHES Velma L. Hughes, 89, a resident of Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home, passed away November 17, 2012. She was a member of Atlas Church of Christ and formerly employed by Genesco and Glenwood Nursing Home. Survivors include: Son Kenneth Dale Hughes (Jan) - Killen Daughter: Nina Wallace( Billy) - Killen Sisters: Idell Anderson - Ohio Christine Richardson - Ohio Mildred Henson - Florida (8) Grandchildren (20) Great Grandchildren (2) Great Great Grandchildren Host of nieces, nephews, and friends Preceded in death by: Husband: A. D. Hughes Parents: William Vernon and Carrie Phillips Sisters: Essie Hovater and Virgie Richardson Brother: Arthur Phillips Great Grandchild: C. J. Wallace Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 19, from 6:00-8:00pm at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Miles Stutts officiating. Burial will be in North Carolina Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons. The family would like to thank the nurses and CNA's at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home for their kindness and good care of their mother. Greenhill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
