James Melvin Chapman, 79, of Iron City, TN, passed away November 24, 2023 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, TN. Melvin was a retried sawmill operator for Hassel Hughes Lumber Company and was a member of the Free Will Baptist Faith. Melvin is survived by: Son: James Elmer Chapman Daughters: Tonya Caperton (J.D.) & Tammy Thompson (Donny) Brothers: David Chapman (Sherry), Stan Chapman (Trisha), Phillip Chapman (Lou Nell), & Willard Chapman (Wanda) Sisters: Mary Hunt (A.C.) & Margaret Gabel (9) Grandchildren and (3) Great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by: Parents: Claude Chapman and Robbie Lou Carpenter Chapman Wife: Melinda Faye Hunt Chapman Brothers: Bobby Joe Chapman, E.L. Chapman, and twins Roy & Coy Chapman Sisters: Jeanette Ireland, Sue Cole, and Della Mae Chapman Visitation will be Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 10:00 A.M. in the funeral home chapel with Charles Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Hollis Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Gabel, Christopher Gabel, Donny Thompson, Andy Hunt, and Andrew Hunt.
