Obituary of Marvolyn Jeanette Hollis
Please share a memory of Marvolyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marvolyn Jeanette Liles Hollis, 80, of Greenhill, AL, passed away January 7, 2023, peacefully at her home after a brief illness. She was born in Lauderdale County, AL at her parent’s old home place.
She graduated from Rogers High School with the class of 1960. She was a house wife and lifelong member of Greenhill Methodist Church.
Mother enjoyed putting together photograph albums of her children, family members and friends. Over the years, this hobby developed into scrapbooking, where she handmade the most intricate and elaborate pages of family and friends. She also loved to grow roses and iris. She collected many beautiful iris bulbs from friends in the community. Some of her plants were from her grandmother Eva Hines, who she loved dearly. Her greatest passion was to feed and watch the numerous hummingbirds that found their way to her home every year.
Mrs. Hollis was preceded in death by her husband, James Hamilton Hollis; parents William Henry Liles and Nancy Lucille Liles; brothers Travis Glenn Liles and William Lee Liles; and grandparents Tommie Lee Hines and Eva Green McMurtrey Hines.
She is survived by her son, James Van (Jimmy) Hollis and partner Glenn Spencer of Greenhill, AL; daughter Deb (Debbie) Hollis Brown of Birmingham, AL; and Grandpuppies Boo Boo, Baby, and Peanut.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Robert Dickson and to the wonderful people of Hospice of North Alabama.
Visitation will be at Greenhill Funeral Home on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 1:00 P.M. with Bro. Mike Butler officiate. Burial will be in Emmaline Stutts Cemetery.
