Mrs. Davis, my heart goes out to you. You've been blindsided, betrayed, duped, and abandoned by Vicky's passing, in the most unspeakable and tragic of life's circumstances. After I saw Vicky's story on 20/20 a few nights ago, I dragged myself to bed. I didn't get up the way I usually do, come morning. I went back to bed. A few hours passed, I got up and went back to bed again.. Why am I telling you this? I'm an elder like you. I've had happy and challenging moments in life, yet many of then lonely. I never found or got to be with the love of my life, any love of which there were many. when I was young and in love. All I wanted was marriage and a family. I've had satisfying jobs and careers, but no man made me feel wanted, or special. Although Vicky led an exemplary life employed as a Corrections officer, no job or its accolades, or friends and family, as loving as they are, can fill the holes of a hungry heart. Vicky was 57 and ready for a mid-life change. She was most likely tired of the work, ready for something new and exciting. She lived alone? She must have been horribly lonely...except those 5 weeks she lived with you. In Vicky's world surrounded by prisoners, so called "bad people". she probably didn't look at all of them that way. Regardless of what public opinion thinks, she and Casey had a lot in common, their last names for one, and apparently. they mattered to each other in a way that few understand. One could say they were blinded, drunk with fatal attraction, that swept away feeling of Nirvana like no other. Vicky made some tough choices along the way, but I'm glad she had the courage to check out when the bubble burst. She didn't want to put herself or you through what would come next. I hope you will come to cherish those last weeks she spent with you. And In time, I know you'll forgive her, knowing she never meant to hurt you. Know that you'll see each other again in a place of forever where love and happpiness never end. A hug from me, Maggie.

I did not know Vicky or the family, but my heart ached as I watched everything unfold, and a life taken in the wrong direction ending in what Vicky felt was her only choice. I can sympathize with what the family is going through, as I lost my Son 2 years ago. Please accept my prayers that one day you will find peace knowing Vicky is now in a place of Heaven. Vicky, I did not know you, but I followed your story, and I cannot relate to all of it, but I certainly know the feeling of longing to be with somebody that you're not able to be with. At one time in life I may have done something similar had it ever come to it. In the short time you had with him, even as you had to look over your shoulder at all times, I'm sure that was also a feeling eased by the fact that at least you two could be together in every sense, something not possible any other way. I wish it could have had a different ending, and I just hope that on the other side, in the Summerland as we pagans call it, you can have some measure of peace. I do not judge, do not hold this against you, and just say, "there but for the grace of God go I." RIP.

As I watched the events unfold after Vicky and Casey left the jail, my heart broke with empathy for Vicky. Several years ago, I was in a very similar position and almost threw my life away in a desperate attempt to grasp on to what I thought I needed and wanted. Unlike Vicky, I was pulled back from the brink of destruction by a miraculous turn of events not of my own making or planning, and I lived to come out on the other side. We human beings are a complex amalgamation of emotional, spiritual, and biological needs, forces, and desires. We may harbour an inner world of unfullment that no one else sees. The craving and longing inside can drive us to a state of desperation in which we become willing to throw everything away at the chance that we might finally have what we need. I have been exactly where Vicky was, and I can tell you it is an excruciating place to be that tears your soul apart. I survived, and sadly, Vicky did not. Perhaps part of the reason I am still here is to give voice to what she was feeling.
To those with a proclivity for focusing on the negative, I offer this caution. Under the right set of circumstances, it could be you instead of her. To quote an old Alabama boy called Luke The Drifter: "Unless you have made no mistakes in your life, be careful of stones that you throw."
My heart goes out to all the family and friends who knew and loved Vicky White. I never had the pleasure of meeting her in this life, but as a kindred spirit who has walked much the same path she trod, I feel that I know her. My prayer is that now she is in a state of peace and rest where her kind and beautiful heart is surrounded and protected forever by the love she so richly deserves.

After reading all the posts it is evident the whole world has embraced Vicky, her family, friends and coworkers. It just goes to show there are good people left in this world. Vicky represented thousands of the lonely people in this world and even though it may be difficult to understand now....good will come from this tragedy. The good may come in the form of others recognizing the loneliness of others and are able to lift them up. As loved ones are grieving hopefully they can return to these posts and know others feel their pain and know how much the world loved Vicky having never met her. I, like millions of others in the nation, were shocked & stunned in the beginning, worried about Vicky for 11 days, then devastated at the tragic end. Here in New York the tears are flowing for Vicky over this most heartwrenching tragedy. I really don't know what to say to comfort her family & friends as mere words are more than just insufficient. I have followed this story and am broken hearted for Vicky, you as her family, and her friends and colleagues. Who among us has not made a mistake…even a really big one? I know I have done so, including from loneliness…No one will ever really understand this story except the two people who lived it. I hope the media back off now (and you can tell them to do that) so that you can heal. May you be comforted by your memories of Vicky, which can never be taken away. I did not know Vicky but her story struck a chord with me. Finding someone you love but not being able to be with them is something that I have experienced and still experience on a daily basis. She made a tough decision and her friends and family have to live with the consequences of that decision which is a hard situation to be in. She spent the last week of her life with the man she loved and wanted to spend her life with. I hope that she has now found peace from the daily heartache she was experiencing.

My grandparents were Almon and Carlene Allen. I remember how wonderful JC and Pat were to my grandparents, especially after my Grandfather passed. I don’t remember meeting Vicky, but I’m sure as children our paths crossed at some point. My father, Edwin and my Uncle Jimmy do remember Vicky. My dad told me how sweet and kind Vicky was to my Grandmother Carlene and would often stop and visit. My Grandmother thought the world of Vicky and the rest of the Davis family. This is how we will all remember your daughter. I would like to think she and my grandparents are reunited again and are catching up on old times. Please know you are all in our prayers and will continue to be for days to come.

To Vicky’s family: I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot begin to imagine your pain. My grandmother had to bury three children and with each one she said that it was harder and harder. She also said that it was the most unnatural thing she had to do.
It is my prayer that you can take comfort in knowing that the separation is only temporary and that one day, hopefully sooner rather than later, you will be reunited with Vicky and all of your loved ones for all eternity.
