Mrs. Annie Bell Newton, 94, of Loretto, passed away March 17, 2012 after an extended illness. She was a Baptist and retired custodian for the Lauderdale County School System. Survivors include: Daughter: Barbara Ann Newton Greene - Loretto Sons: Elbert Eugene Newton - Killen James Dee Newton - Killen David Eldridge Newton - Lexington (14) Grandchildren, (25) Great Grandchildren, and ( 4) Great Great Grandchildren Preceded in death by: Husband: Asa Joshua Newton Parents: George Washington Cottrell and Minnie Hammond Cottrell Brother: Alvie R. Cottrell Sister: Lura Mae Cottrell An infant sister Granddaughter: Jo Ann Hunt The funeral service will be Monday, March 19, 2012 at Lexington First Baptist Church with Bro. Joel Wallace and Bro. Terry Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 12:00-2:00pm. Pallbearers will be Keith Hunt, Keith Kelley, Sam Edwards, Tim Corum, David Newton, Jr., and Patrick Hunt. Honorary pallbearers will be Noah Ward, Jake Newton, Cody Fowler, and Jake Harding. The family would like to thank Volunteer Hospice of Waynesboro for their care. Greenhill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. You may sign the guest register at www.greenhillfuneralhome.net.
