I enjoyed Miss Putnam's class in 3rd grade. She was always willing to help you if you tired. She always belived in her students and wanted to see them succeed over their school and adult life. I kept in touch with her all throughout my school career. She is the reason I enjoy reading. She was a very special influence in my life. I couldn't believe when she retired she got me to help her move stuff from her room to her house. Thoughts and prayers to her family, she was loved by many students over the years and definitely will not be forgotten!

Sending many prayers to The Putnam family! Ms. Putnam was one of my favorite teachers I’ve ever had, and she left such a lasting impression on me. The love, time, and energy she gave to her students was unmatched. I had the pleasure of being in her 3rd grade class many years ago. I am 30 now, but I vividly remember so many fun times we shared that year. She had a spend the night party for our class at her house. We went caroling, and I remember she had an impressive Christmas village at her place with a train running through it. I remember being in such awe of that as a child. She was so sweet and saw potential in each of her students. We still have the personalized photo albums she created for us that year too. I’m deeply saddened by this news, but her spirit will certainly live on in the many lives that she touched.

I hope that Ms. Putman knew what a huge impact she had on me. I moved from Rogers to Brooks in 3rd grade and Ms. Putman was my first teacher at Brooks. Like so many others I have countless memories from that year. Spelling Contests (you could win a free pass on a spelling test), reading groups that helped me over come obstacles, sleeping over at her house at year end, selling candy bars I got the prize for the most in the whole elementary (not just the 3rd grade -thanks to the ladies at my mom's sewing factory - I sat on her lap as they announced the winners), I played Mother Goose in "the trial of Mother Goose". I say that all to say during a really hard transition of leaving all my friends behind at another school, she was exactly what I needed both personally and for my education. You will be missed! I am so very thankful that you were my teacher!

I hope Ms. Putman knew what an impact she had on her students. Finding out I had her as my 3rd grade teacher I remember, even now, that I was a little disheartened because Mrs. Cox in the next room had the super cool tee-pee. :) I had not had a good 2nd grade year; I had been teased and actually thought that I didn't like school for a while.
I was surprised by the incredible year I ended up having because of Ms. Putman. She was tough, and I learned so much! She had a spend the night party for all the girls at the end of the year .... she lived in Sherwood Forest - I know that's a subdivision now, but as a kid, that meant she was from a storybook.
RIP Ms. Putman and thank you for everything. I should have told you before.

Miss Putman was my 3rd grade teacher. I will never forget one time I missed the bus, along with 2 boys in my class. She had to take us home. She had a red sports car. I was going to sit in the back. She said “no you will sit in the front, the boys can sit in the back.” She was a great teacher. She will be missed.

I will always remember Miss Putman coming to my sister's wake when I was in the second grade. My teacher cared enough to come to the funeral home and help me get through a tough time. I was seven years old. She was in her early twenties, but to me she was an adult with the answers.
I wish she knew that I am 52 now with a business to run and a family to raise, but I still have the small vase that she brought flowers in that day in 1975.
All adults should try to help children the way Miss Putman did!
My condolences to the Putman family.
