Obituary of Jimmy Oscar Holden
Jimmy Oscar Holden, 71, of Lexington, AL, passed away June 9, 2019 at his residence. Mr. Holden was a retired self-employed heavy equipment operator.
The purpose of life is not to arrive at death’s door beautifully preserved but to slide in yelling “Man, what a ride!” Daddy had an adventurous one! From boats, dune buggies, motorcycles, four-wheelers, cars, dump trucks, cancer, and yes- even an airplane, he crashed them all and beat cancer. He always thought he would die young, and he did, arriving as late as he could.
As he aged, he taught us how to grow older with dignity, humor, and kindness and how to give and receive forgiveness. He truly loved his family and was deeply loved. He lived his life on his terms and died the same way. We will forever miss his stubborn smiling face, and that mischievous twinkle in his eye.
