Obituary of Alvin Mashburn
Alvin Jackson Mashburn, age 76, took his place in the heavenly choir singing “There is Peace in the Valley”on Monday, May 13, 2019.
He was greeted at the gates by his daughter Tammy Rena Mashburn, parents O.S. and Lenice Mashburn, brother Billy Barnett, Sister Wynell Michael, grandson Joshua Mitchell, and so many more family and dear friends. It was a “Great Reunion Day”.
Alvin was the owner and operator of M&M Textiles and a retired Lexington Auxiliary Reservist. He had a love of gospel music and was one of the most powerful and beautiful tenor singers around, singing in groups and quartets for 60 years, including River City, Gospel Three, Logos, Songs Of Faith, and The Mashburns.
He is survived by his children Kerry (Anita) and Andy (Cindy) Mashburn, Dimple (Phillip) Ingalls, Anthony Mashburn, and Webb Mitchell. Wife Peggy Mashburn. Grandchildren Lindsey (Josh) Richardson, Haley (Zayne) McMahan, Brianna Cason, Sydney Cason, Christian Ingalls, Justin (Carly) Shelby, Jacob Shelby, and Sara Watkins. Great-grandchildren Makenzie, Ethan, Clara, Emerson, Cooper, Hayden, and Riggs, on the way. Sister Marcella Pettus Creekmore (Glen), Brothers Theo (Jo) Mashburn, Wilsey (Angie) Mashburn, and many nieces and nephews whom all loved him dearly as if he were their own Dad.
Visitation will be Monday, May 20, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel with Marcus Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Richardson Chapel Cemetery.
