To the members of Ken's family...
Most of you do not know me, but my Dad was a member of Battery B, 244th Field Artillery Battalion and died in Germany in March, 1945. I met Kenny after an article appeared in the Times Daily about his meeting John Anderton, the son of the Battery B Comander, who also died in Germany.
I was born and grew up in Florence and while visiting family quite a few years ago, I contacted Ken and my uncle (my Dad's older brother) and I had a nice long visit one afternoon with both Ken and Betty.
Also, not so long ago, he called me and asked me to meet him at the WW II Memorial when he traveled to DC with an Honor Flight.
Please accept my sincere condolences and deepest sympathies for his passing. Although he & I had not had contact in several, I will always remember his openness in talking about the 244th and was quire taken when he offered to give me his WW II photos. Best wishes to everyone in the family.
