Obituary of Virginia "Ginny" Curtis

~~Virginia “Ginny” Gilbert Curtis, 73, passed away September 17, 2017. 
 
 The funeral service will be Wednesday, September 20, at 11:00 a.m. at Greenhill Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery. Brian Smith and Bro. Howell Bigham will officiate.

 Pallbearers will be Dennis Allen, Travis Allen, H. L. Butler, R. C. Clemmons, Jesse Curtis, Mike DesRuisseaux, Jimmy Phillips, and Caleb Storie.  Honorary pallbearers will be Arvel Curtis, Henry Hemmen, Clayburn Hines, and Alan Storie.

 Ginny was raised in Florence and was a graduate of Coffee High School and the University of North Alabama.  She was an excellent educator and taught English at Northwest Shoals Community College for 18 years.

She loved to travel and visited 49 States, Hawaii being her favorite destination.  She was a member of Shiloh Church of Christ for 52 years.

 Ginny is preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Gradene Gilbert, brother, Barry Gilbert, and sister Gail Hite. 

 She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Don; sister Julie Knudson (Dewey) of Virginia; sister in law, Carolyn Adams Gilbert of Killen, and nephews Sid Hite (Linda) of Georgia, Kevin Hite (Elzeline) of Virginia, and Brian Hite (Ruthie) of Georgia.

 She was a loving mother to her daughters, Michele Curtis of Killen and Kristin Storie (Alan) of Killen.  She was extremely proud of her 3 grandchildren, Caleb and Liza Storie, and Jesse Curtis.
