Obituary of Winifred Graves Kell
~~Winifred Graves Doggett Kell left this earthly life at the age of 87 after a ten year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Winnie, as she was best known, was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. Attended David Lipscomp College where she met her husband of 40 years, James D. Kell. She began her banking career in McMinnville, Tennessee. Upon moving to Sarasota, Florida in 1968, she was hired by Ellis Bank & Trust Co., later becoming Bank of America, where, as an executive, she retired in 1990. After retirement she then began a tenure as a financial consultant with a European based company. She enjoyed golf, both playing and watching and especially traveling with her daughters to many and varied locations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John H. And Alice Graves Doggett, one brother, John H. Doggett Jr.
She is survived by daughters, Amelia (Amy) Graves Mahers (Greenhill, Alabama), Susan Ann Cooper, (Ed), Osprey, Florida, and Malinda Jane Pardo (Huvi), Crystal River, Florida. Grandchildren, Trey, Joshua, and Christian Mahers, Michael and David Cooper, Jake and Beni Pardo. She leaves to honor her memory 15 great-grandchildren.
She was cared for lovingly by her daughter Malinda, and by the compassionate and loving caregivers with Always There in Citrus Springs, Florida.
People with dementia are living and valuable members of families. Though unable to speak or move, mother taught us lessons in bravery, patience, acceptance, tenderness, compassion and that loving chocolate is never forgotten.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, Sept. 5, at 12:00 noon at the North Carolina Church of Christ with Don Williams officiating. Burial will follow in North Carolina Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 11:00am-12:00pm at the church.
