James Ottis Barnett, 89, of Lexington, passed away March 3, 2017, at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. He was a farmer, homebuilder and a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. Survivors include: Sons: Ron Barnett (Karen), Chattanooga, TN Tim Barnett, Starkville, MS Grandchildren: Colby Barnett(Jennifer) & Jill Johnson(Kevin) Great Grandchildren: Berkley & Brooklyn Barnett Grant & Kale Johnson Preceeded in death by: Wife: Marvis (McGee) Barnett Parents: John Thomas & Pearl Thigpen Barnett Brothers: Herbert, Arlon & Carlon Barnett Sisters: Leona Thigpen, Cleavie Simpson, Clayton Thigpen, Virta Barnett, Elora Lewey, Onita Davis, Elaine Butler, Dene Hester & Leavell Barnett. Visitation will be Sunday, March 5, from 3:00-5:00pm at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Monday, March 6, at 11:00am at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Bro. Jackie Kay & Bro. Jason Vincent officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family members and deacons of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Greenhill Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
