Obituary of David Earl Hipps

David Earl Hipps, 83, of Florence, went home to be with his Lord on July 28, 2026. He was loved dearly by his family and was a good friend to all who knew him. He was a graduate of Rogers High School and a retiree of Reynolds Alloys. David loved his family and always worked to provide for them. He was a member of Lee Heights Baptist Church where he loved being a greeter. David is survived by his devoted wife Ruth Gray Hipps, his loving daughters Janet Kirkwood and husband Sam, Jill Mitchell Newman and husband Todd, and Amy Hartzog, his godson Roger Presley and wife Jennifer, sister-in-law Peggy Hipps and brother-in-law Rex Belew, and special niece Cindy York. Grandad is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Holden Mitchell and wife Victoria, Haley Mitchell Grimes and husband Coby, Daniel Mitchell, Samuel Kirkwood, Andrew Kirkwood and wife Haley, Eli Kirkwood and fiancée Anna Kate Jones, Ben Hartzog and wife Chloe, Blake Hartzog, Hannah Presley, Micah Presley and wife Emma, Madison Newman Butler and husband Dustin, precious great-granddaughters Katherine Mitchell and Finlee Butler, honorary daughter Augustina Appiah-Opoku and husband Seth, and many other special friends and family. David was preceded in death by his beloved son Jeffery David Hipps, his son-in-law Lance Hartzog, his parents Earl and Elois Hipps, his sister Judy Hipps Belew and his brother Robert Hipps. Visitation will be on Friday, July 31, 2026 at Greenhill Funeral Home in Greenhill from 11:00-1:00 with service to follow at 1:00. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Our family appreciates all the prayers and every act of kindness shown to us during the care of our beloved husband, dad and grandad.
