Obituary of Elna Carole Holden

Elna Carole Holden passed away on May 28, 2026, surrounded by loving family. Carole was born September 8, 1941, in Florence, Alabama, daughter of Dock Lee and Eula Mae Johnson Springer. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1959, then went on to Florence State College earning a degree in Home Economics and Biology. Carole married Gerald Dee Holden on June 4, 1960, at Greenhill First Methodist Church. They were married for 49 years, until Gerald passed away on April 2, 2009. They had one daughter, Kimberly Holden Landers. Carole worked at Rogers High School for 34 years and was a substitute teacher for many years after. She was a member of Greenhill First Baptist Church. Remaining to cherish Carole’s memory are daughter Kimberly Holden Landers (Michael) and grandchildren, Jordon and Holleigh. Preceding Carole in death are parents Dock and Eula Mae and husband, Gerald. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 11:00am – 12:00pm, at Greenhill Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 12:00pm, at Greenhill Cemetery, with Bro. Gregg Woodard & Kelvin Brewer officiating. Burial will be at Greenhill Cemetery. Carole’s family would like to thank Tierra Harris and Charmayne Benner for the care that they have provided over the last 3 years. They would also like to thank Dr. Robert Mann, the staff of Affinity Hospice, Adoration Home Health, and CaringPlace of the Shoals.
