Obituary of William Dale McLaughlin

William Dale McLaughlin, 78, of Florence, Alabama, passed away on May 25, 2026. He was retired from the Lauderdale County Road Department and was an avid Alabama football fan. Dale never met a stranger and loved to talk, especially about his grandchildren of whom he was so proud. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis McLaughlin and Dean McLaughlin; his son, Roger Dale McLaughlin; his granddaughter, Brooke McLaughlin Kelley; his brother, Derek McLaughlin; and his sister, Carolyn Murks. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janice McLaughlin; his stepson, Gordon Heathcoat, and his wife, Amy; his grandsons, Tyler McLaughlin(TaiAnn), Kyle Heathcoat, and Carson Heathcoat; and his great-grandchildren, Brinlee McLaughlin and Carter Kelley. He also leaves behind his brothers and sister whom he loved dearly: Linda Pierce, Jimmy McLaughlin (Deidre), and Joey McLaughlin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Greenhill Funeral Home, with the funeral service immediately following at 1:00 PM in the chapel. Brothers Haskell Sparks and Scott Livingston will be officiating. Burial will follow at Emmaline Stutts Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler McLaughlin, Kyle Heathcoat, Carson Heathcoat, Shawn Pierce, Todd Pierce, and Cody McLaughlin.
