Stephen Ray “Steve” Gist, 72, of Florence, AL, passed away March 24, 2026, at his residence. He was of the Baptist faith. Steve was a graduate of Rogers High School and the previous owner of Gist Service Company for over 30 years. He enjoyed working in his yard and attending car shows with his grandson. Nothing meant more to Steve than his grandson Will, who was truly his world. Survivors include: Wife: Brenda Peden Gist Daughter: Stephanie Gist Evers (Kevin) Grandson: Will Evers Preceded in death by: Parents: Leonard & Gladys Gist Brother: Ozell Gist Sisters: Movaline Young, Francis Cain, Lucille Gladney, & Debbie Phillips Visitation will be Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 12:00 – 2:00pm, at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00pm, in the funeral home chapel, with Dr. Tom Malone officiating. Burial will be at Shiloh Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Kevin Evers, Kevin Clemmons, Charles Martin, Lex Moody, Dennis Warren & Ed Willis. Honorary pallbearers will be: Ernie Clemmons & Troy Clemmons. The family would like to thank Hospice of North Alabama of Florence for their care and support during this difficult time.
