Obituary of Nettie Jean Hollis

Nettie Jean Hollis, 88, of Florence, passed away December 29, 2025, at North Alabama Medical Center. Jean was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and a current member of Mount Zion Church of Christ. Jean taught school for 25+ years, the last 20 years at Wilson Elementary. She was a hospice and hospital volunteer for 6 years after she retired. She loved her family and her church family wholeheartedly. She was a kind soul with a generous heart. Survivors include: Son: Wendal Hollis Daughter: Sylvia Stephenson Sisters: Clarisa Alexander (Jerry) & Ruth Malone Grandchildren: Brooklyn & Madelyn Preceded in death by: Husband: John Lem Hollis Son: John Byron Hollis Parents: Melvin Tolbert Hubbard & Phoebe Odell Rhodes Hubbard Brothers: Quillen “Tee” Hubbard & Marvin Neal “Catfish” Hubbard Visitation will be Thursday, January 1, 2026, from 11:00am – 1:00pm, at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00pm, in the funeral home chapel, with Scotty Sparks & Baron Vander Maas officiating. Burial will be at Jessie’s Garden Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Rodney Hubbard, Warren Hubbard, Patrick Alexander, Chuck Tash, Lance Pruitt & Tim Clanton. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jeff Gifford & Tim Rhodes
