Having Mrs. Pitts as a teacher and later a colleague was a blessing. Years of priceless memories. My favorite is her telling of helping integrate a lunch counter while in college in Memphis.

So many memories… one year I was in Mrs Pitts’ class for history, English, and homeroom. That was a great year. After I graduated, she said I could call her Mary Jo. She was a wonderful teacher and friend.

Loved May Jo, she was a great teacher and gave me so much encouragement. She always said think for yourself and don't follow others, be yourself. I saw her a couple yrs ago at the Dr's office and we chatted. She was so funny she always made me laugh and was always getting on to me but I loved it. Great Lady, rest in Peace
