So sorry to hear this. I never had to wonder what Linda thought about things. She was always true to herself and true to her Faith and the courage to stand up for it.
I wish I could tell her how much I respected her and admired her for that.

Q: What will you never forget about Linda?
A: The best first grade teacher anyone could ask for. That is how I will remember Mrs. Lumpkins. We attended the same congregation as well. Once at church I was telling her a funny story regarding my father, Daniel Whitworth. She could not understand my vivid description of “those white squishy things”. Mrs. Lumpkins finally realized I was describing marshmallows. She leaned forward and in true teacher form said Danelle, they are called Marshmallows! I said “no Mrs. Lumpkins, they are WASHMELLOWS!”
She laughed so hard at that! Guess I’ve always been sassy! But Mrs. Lumpkins was the best!

Dear Lumpkins family,
I'm sorry to read of your loved one's passing, and may all find comfort in our Lord's word during this time of sadness.
In John 11:23-26, “Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”.
The above scripture is a wonderful promise from our Lord Jesus, and those who have passed on are now in the care of our Lord God, who has shown his love for us through his Beloved Son.
Rest in peace, dear sister; your reward is waiting.
God's continued blessings be upon you all.

Mrs. Lumpkins took me and Michael Whitworth to visit a bedbound chronically ill female when we were in elementary school. It was the first time I ever saw someone in a condition like hers and I remember it well. It was a formative moment I won’t soon forget. I spoke with her in the last year and she remembered taking us and told me the lady’s life story which was remarkable (the lady’s story AND the fact that she remembered it so well 30 years later). I’ll never forget my first grade teacher and the love she showed us even after we left her classroom.

The world was truly a better place because of Linda Lumpkins. Her life was a testament to the power of faith, kindness, and compassion. She lived with a Christ-like love that touched everyone who knew her, inspiring others to walk humbly, love deeply, and serve wholeheartedly.
Linda’s influence extended far beyond her years, leaving an enduring legacy of hope and faith that will continue to bless generations to come. She showed us what it means to live a life that glorifies God.
Her memory remains a cherished reminder of a life well lived for His glory. I am grateful to have known her.

Many years ago at ECM Hospital in Florence, Alabama, I visited Lonna Beard [Linda Lumpkins's Mother]. Linda was patiently watching over her mother as Mrs. Beard was obviously nearing the end of life. As far as I can remember, that was the first time I had ever seen anyone pass away. Linda faced that situation with serenity and gratefulness, which is a most admirable quality of character.
