Q: What was one of the qualities of Nellie that you loved most? A: Aunt Nellie Ann, love for me and always wanting me to come home to TN. She just always wanted me around and I too wanted to be here! Aunt Nellie’s love and the love I always felt when I came to TN is HOME to me always. My love to quilt comes from my Aunt Nellie and my Tennessee family! My Indiana family was and still is a quilting family also! This family circle is sewn together!

Q: How did you meet Nellie? A: We spent time with Uncle Doc and Aunt Nellie during the summer my 5th grade year. I’ll never forget going fishing up there, our second trip within a year or so, with my Papaw, Mamaw, (Aunt Nellie’s sister, Ina) and all the family. We went to a paid lake, my first time ever being to one. We would cast our lines with two hooks and no faster than the line hitting the water reel back in with 2 fish. Then followed up with a fish fry. Also, I remember her breakfast being so delicious when we stayed there, her handmade biscuits were so good. Her and Doc were so kind and had great sense of humor, seemed like they lived life to the fullest.
