Obituary of Thomas Daniel Hunt

Thomas Daniel Hunt, 76, of Nashville passed away July 10, 2009. He was born September 7, 1932, in Wayland Springs, TN to Marcus William and Gladys Bryan Hunt. Along with his parents, Mr. Hunt was preceded in death by infant son, James Darryl Hunt, and brothers, Carroll James Hunt and Roy Neal Hunt. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Martha Etheredge Hunt, daughters, Karen Hunt-Ahmed of Chicago, IL, Kimberly Hunt Smith of Nashville, granddaughters, Ozakh Ahmed and Hazar Ahmed of Chicago, sisters, Mary Wannell Hunt of Nashville, and Sondra Fay (Paul) of Nashville, nieces and nephews. After graduating from Loretto High School, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1953. He was employed by Genesco for 28 years and retired from Munro Shoe Company of Wynn, Arkansas in December 2000. Mr. Hunt was a member of Blakemore United Methodist Church for 43 years where he served in various capacities. He was serving as youth coordinator in 1975 when the youth group founded Mountain Top—a TN Youth Outreach Program. A graveside service with full Military Honors will be held Tuesday, July 14, at St. Joseph United Methodist Church Cemetery, St. Joseph, TN, at 1:00pm with Dr. Herbert Lester officiating. A memorial service will be Thursday, July 16, at 7:00pm at Blakemore United Methodist Church, 3601 West End Ave., Nashville, with Rev. Paul Gardner officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the service in the fellowship hall of the church. Pallbearers will be Frank Fay, Tom Hunt, Bobby Bryan, Omer Ahmed, Allen Hanback, and Walt Leaver. Honorary pallbearers are Members of Tuesday Morning Table Talk and the Pathfinders Class of Blakemore United Methodist Church. A special thanks to the doctors and staff at Centennial Medical Center. Memorials may be made to the Endowment Fund at Blakemore United Methodist Church.
