Martelle J. Pettus, 84, of Greenhill, AL, passed away May 13, 2009, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Lake City, FL and a resident of Lauderdale County for 63 years. She was a member of Grove Level Baptist Church, Dalton, GA. Survivors include: Son: Leon Pettus and wife Janice - Greenhill Daughter: Margene Casteel - Greenhill Brothers: John Jones and Bill Jones - Lake City, FL Sisters: Daisy Jones, Pearl Ellzey - Lake City, FL Grandchildren: Greg Pettus (Christine), Tony Pettus (Tammy), Andy Pettus (Ashli), Chris Clemmons (Amanda), April Harris (Doug). Great Grandchildren: Regan Lovelace, Taylor and Tucker Pettus, Elizabeth and Olivia Pettus, Kaley and Alex Clemmons. Preceded in death by: Husband: Eugene Pettus Parents: Gussie and Eva Mae Jones Sisters: Bernice Morton, Grace Roberts Visitation will be Saturday, May 16, 2009, from 11:00-1:00pm at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be a 1:00pm at the funeral home with Bro. Mack McCullar officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. Wampler and the staff of Hospice of North Alabama. Greenhill Funeral Home is directing.
